Its understandable that accomodation has to be provided for the hords of summer tourists , but what may garantee the continuation of a future "quality tourism" (never liked this expression, for its personal implications) would be a developed consciousness of how the space is occupied. The kind of person who stays in five star hotels is equally the kind of person who would, above all, prefere a less adulterated and spoiled landscape. One which is not cluttered with high buildings. I Lament the short-sightedness, the lack of planning. There has been no wisdom gained from the mistakes of others.
This is strange, as "the mistakes of others" are visibly close to us and we can see them from the city...well... the shoreline. It is also quite illustrative that the Tourists seek the West Coast more and more, maybe because that area of our country is less damaged by construction, less developed.
If Tourism is the hen that lays golden eggs for the Algarve then this town is killing it to make a hurried and bland chicken stew. I was born here and these attitudes make me sad. When I sea the beautifull parts of my homeland dissappear I am close to tears.
If I thought that it would work I would make an appeal to those responsable but something has hardened their consciousness blocking it. They are stagnated in greed.
So here I will leave not an appeal but my opinion of those without conscioussness or inteligence for that matter.
